Your Advocate

Karen Gray was reappointed as the acting Child and Youth Advocate on February 4, 2025. Ms. Gray was the Director of Individual Advocacy and Investigations at the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate and has been in this position since 2011. She was temporarily appointed as the Acting Child and Youth Advocate on January 14, 2022 and held this position until October 24, 2022 when a new Advocate was appointed.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), a Bachelor of Social Work, a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Certificate in the Graduate Program of Teaching. She has been a Social Worker in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1986 and has worked in various roles in government departments, community health boards, Memorial University and community practice for more than 35 years.
